EKBIS.CO, BANDA ACEH -- Semen Indonesia Group holds a 38 percent share of the cement market in the westernmost Indonesian province of Aceh, PT Semen Indonesia said.
"We continue our efforts to increase the market share of Semen Indonesia in Aceh by, among other things, building a plant in Pidie district," spokesman for PT Semen Indonesia Sigit Wahono stated here on Tuesday.
Semen Indonesia currently holds a 41 percent share of the cement market in the country, while the figure is recorded at 38 percent in Aceh, he noted.
"We hope the presence of Semen Indonesia plant in Pidie district in Aceh will significantly contribute to our sales in Aceh, in particular, and Indonesia, in general," he remarked.
The presence of the cement plant will support the company's competitiveness to increase its market share in the northern and eastern parts of Sumatra Island.
Semen Indonesia saw its sales in the first five months of this year rising 10 percent to 12.2 million tons compared to the same period last year, he revealed.
"Thank God, the company's sales have increased," he added.
The construction of Semen Indonesia plant in Aceh is expected to be completed in the second semester of 2020, he asserted.
